OUR AD
This is our advertisement for our campaign. We decided that we wanted it to be more figurative than graphic, but equally as impacting. In the begining of the video, we can see a man's feet walking calmly through a corridor, as we start to hear a clock ticking alongside a heartbeat that will slowly increase throughout the video to build tension. He soon slows down and stops in front of a window pane as he stares through it in an unbothered but imposing pose. As the camera moves and enters an outdoor space, we can finally see the victim sitting in a minimized pose, it being the opposite of the abuser.
The outdoor space is the small world of the victim purely controlled by him and also representing that the outside world can observe her, but she can not see nor have contact with it or the people that she used to know. She's completely isolated from everyone but him, he is the only connection she has with the world. Her head is down representing the shame and the fear that the victim has to look at the abuser straight in the eye. It also can be interpreted as the absolute power the abuser has over the victim. Lastly, the camera moves away from her and we can see the abuser in front of the victim and slowly walk toward her. In reality, we never saw the abuser enter the habitat of the victim, meaning he is still outside of it observing her but the victim feels his presence haunting her every minute of every day. Furthermore, we don't see her moving, she's just static and numb after the exhausting continuous fighting to get through the day, she is tired both mentally and physically.
OUR POSTER
The name of our campaign is : Rearview mirror, and we’ve come up with this name as we listened to a song which talks about not only the physical abuse but also the psychological one, but this time it was a child who was suffering from it alongside with his mother. It depicts one of the common ways a abuser uses in order to minimise its victim, which is the threat by the child’s abuse.
This poster depicts two different situations, where in the left one the woman is insulted and devalued, representing what she is said on the daily by her abuser. The right side which is the positive one, the right side in which she has her own freedom which makes her feel happy and worthy. It also can represent the two opposite sides of the evil cycle. The right side being the honeymoon phase and the left one being the outcome of the explosion that has happened between the couple. And we could even compare it to a rollercoaster, the right side being the highs (honeymoon and tension building phase) but then the immediate drop. Lastly, the left side would be the result, the lows and its consequences.
Our slogan is “Pain through the window’s pane” and it portrays the victim’s point of view, despite the abuser not being around, his instil presence always haunts her, whether it being due to the physical scars which will eventually fade or the psychological ones which will always remain with her.
